Star Convoy And Hot Rod

A Japan-exclusive; the very last Optimus Prime released in the G1 period. Star Convoy was part of the "Return of Convoy" story that was syndicated in some Japanese toy magazine. He represents a reborn Optimus Prime. He serves as a Micromaster transport, and a base. (The base mode is so ridiculously bad that I didn't bother picturing him.)

It is hard to comprehend how different Star Convoy is as compared to modern toys. For starters, he is more of a playset for smaller Micromaster figures. As a result, he really isn't that impressive on his own (The only parts of him that move are his arms, his elbows and his waist). However, I can't help but love him for his interactive nature - you can actually have micromasters (and most minicons) launch from his trailer, and just have him serve as part of the scenery. He is also massive; I had a lot of problems trying to convey just how big he is. I wouldn't pay full price for him, but he is well worth what I paid ($30).
